Cooperative Hoogstraten obtains the official SDG Pioneer certificate from UNITAR
Wednesday 28 October 2020
Cooperative Hoogstraten received the official SDG Pioneer certificate from UNITAR on Tuesday 27 October 2020. This is proof that the cooperative is not only committed to sustainable transformation in words, but also effectively translates the SDGs into practice. The certificate is a nice reward for the efforts made in the field of corporate social responsibility.
Corporate social responsibility is certainly not new at Coöperatie Hoogstraten. The cooperative has been voluntarily committed to minimizing the impact of its activities for years and has been a loyal participant in Voka's CSR charter project since 2011. This has provided us with a framework for our sustainability vision and the efforts that fit into it. Initially, the focus was on the environment, and a year later the successful transition to the CSR charter was made by also adding action points related to welfare and social policy.
New in 2018 was the integration of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that the United Nations has set for the sustainable development of the world. Anyone who carries out actions within each of the seventeen objectives of the UN for three consecutive years receives from CIFAL Flanders / UNITAR, the internationally recognized UNITAR certificate, linked to the UN. The SDGs can be divided into five major themes: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership. As loyal participants in the charter for sustainable entrepreneurship, Coöperatie Hoogstraten decided to shift up a gear and actively work on the 17 SDGs of the United Nations
After dozens of campaigns over the past three years, Cooperative Hoogstraten was awarded the special SDG pioneer certificate in 2020.
Taking continuous action to be as socially responsible as possible goes hand in hand with efforts to support the credibility of the industry. For example, Cooperative Hoogstraten has once again signed a letter of intent to further elaborate and implement a number of points in the organization in the coming year.
